LATEST UPDATES - BUCKEYE DULCIMER FESTIVAL 2025

1) STAFF and CLASS CHANGES:

-- Ruth and Steve Smith needed to cancel due to health reasons.

-- Jody Marshall will be stepping in for Ruth for the intermediate/Advanced Hammered Dulcimer class
on Thursday and Friday and mini-sessions on Saturday.

Jody's Class Description:

One of the most gratifying aspects of playing music is being able to play with others! We’ll plug into this camaraderie by
working on some duets, and we’ll also focus on ways to participate in a jam even if you don’t know the tune.
Along the way we’ll practice hearing chord changes and finding chords on our instrument quickly and efficiently.
Bonus: We’ll learn some beautiful Irish and Scottish melodies while we’re at it, and we’ll also add a few exercises and
techniques into the mix. Most importantly, we’ll have lots of fun while playing music together!

-- Steve Smith's Ukulele Class has been cancelled for Thursday and Friday.

-- Band-it!  The Thursday and Friday class is cancelled.  Look for Band-it! mini sessions on Saturday.

2)  Regarding the Thursday and Friday Intensive sessions ... all classes are still open including both onsite and zoom registrations.

3)  HOUSING:  There are still a few beds available in Greif (Pod Housing), Residence Hall A (Ladies),
and Residence Hall B (Gents).

4)  SCHEDULES:  Check out updates for both the Extended Schedule (Wed - Friday afternoon and Weekend)
Be sure to check the schedules for special classes such as

Phyllis Davis - Autoharp
Phyllis will be helping folks get started on the right track by teaching approximately 5 hours of
New Player/Beginner autoharp.

Melanie Shapiro - Hammered Dulcimer
Journey to the Jam – and beyond!
The Saturday class will be 5 hours together for those just beginning their musical journey with the hammered dulcimer.  We’ll start with mapping out the dulcimer so we know where we are starting from.  Then we’ll learn how to navigate those strings with a few rules to help us stay on course by learning to hold our hammers properly, and learning hammering patterns to chart our way efficiently.  We can only stay on track if we learn to tune, so we’ll cover that as well.  Before you know it, you'll be at the jam!

Shane Braden - Mountain Dulcimer

Shane will be helping folks get started on the right track by teaching 5 hours of
New Player/Beginner mountain dulcimer.

BUCKEYE ROADSHOW ZOOM JAMS - 2025

Buckeye Roadshow Zoom/Onsite jams have been put on hold after Shari contracted Covid on January 2 with several side issues.
She is still on the road back to being involved with music.  We hope to start the jams again after the Buckeye Dulcimer Festival.
Yes, Shari plans to be back at the festival in April!!!!

BUCKEYE DULCIMER FESTIVAL ZOOM JAMS

WELCOME to zoom jams, Buckeye Dulcimer Festival style.  Join Chris & Joe Steiner and Shari Wolf in jamming our favorite jam tunes from the dulcimer world, old-time music world and bluegrass world.  Music in the jams will all be traditional and from public domain.
No copyrighted music.

These are not beginner jams, BUT beginners ... anyone .... is welcome to join

We'll increase speed as we play through tunes and play singing songs at singing speed.
We'll play tunes more than just a few times.

***************************************************************

You'll be able to hear only the three of us during the jam.  We will be muting you during the playing and unmuting
in between tunes for comments.    We hope this will help you to continue to jam even when jamming in person is not possible.

New Year's Resolution for 2024 was to use the Zoom recording and post the jam.
Some folks would like to work on the tunes.  Mission Accomplished, at least for January.
